- Boats and seaplanes gather in the water off Mere Point in Brunswick, ME to celebrate the Round-the-World Flight of 1924. The Round-the-World Flight was the first flight to travel around the globe, beginning in Seattle, WA on April 6th, 1924. The shores of Mere Point served as the aviators' first landing in the United States on September 5th, 1924, and they returned to Seattle on September 28th.
